1. Competition Objective

This competition challenges teams to design, program, and execute a synchronized flight performance with a swarm of multiple drones. The performance will be judged on technical precision, artistic choreography, and creative use of light and movement within a strict 2-minute time limit. The goal is to demonstrate the fusion of technology and art through coordinated multi-drone control.

2. Competition Arena

  • Flight Volume: The performance must take place not exceeding a designated flight volume of maximum 3 meters (Length) x 4 meters (Width) x 4 meters (Height).

  • Safety Netting: The entire flight volume shall be enclosed by safety netting on all sides and the top.

  • Competition Map: A pre-prepared image QR code is as below.

  • Launch/Landing Pad: Drone must start off of row 1 on the map between the number of 1-10 and lands on the same row between number 1-10 on the map.

3. Technical & Team Requirements

  • Drone Swarm:

    • Each team must use a swarm of a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 10 drones.

    • Each individual quadcopter drone with 20cm must not weigh more than 200 grams (including battery).

    • All drones must be equipped with programmable, multi-color LED lights.

    • The control system is pre-programmed (autonomous choreography), not manually operated. All drones in the swarm must be controlled via a single, unified system.

  • Team Composition:

    • Each team may consist of a maximum of 2 members.

    • Only the Pilot-in-Command is permitted to operate the control system during the performance.

4.  Competition System

  • Preparation Phase (3 Minutes): Upon being called, each team will have 3 minutes to set up their equipment, and place their drones on the launchpad on any number of the row 1 on the map.

  • Performance Phase (2 Minutes):

    • The 2-minute performance timer begins the moment the first drone lifts off from the ground.

    • All drones must remain within the designated flight volume for the duration of the performance.

  • Conclusion:

    • The performance concludes when the 2-minute timer expires or when all drones have safely landed on the launch/landing pad.

    • The timer stops when the last drone comes to a complete rest on the pad or at the 2-minute mark, whichever comes first.

5. Scoring Criteria (100-Point System)

Scores will be awarded by a panel of judges based on the following criteria:

  1. Technical Execution (40 Points)

    • Complexity & Difficulty (20 points): The intricacy of the flight paths, the proximity of the drones to each other, and the complexity of transitions between formations.

    • Flight Dynamics (20 points): Smoothness of movement, control over acceleration/deceleration, and effective use of the entire 3D flight volume.

  2. Artistic Impression (40 Points)

    • Choreography & Creativity (20 points): Originality of the routine, storytelling, and overall visual appeal. How well the performance captivates the audience.

    • Use of Light & Color (20 points): The creative use of the drone's LEDs to create patterns, effects, and moods that complement the flight formations.

  3. Completion & Landing (20 Points)

    • Points are awarded for the successful completion of the routine and the safe landing of all drones within the designated landing pad which is on row 1 of the map. A deduction will be made for each drone that fails to land correctly or ceases to operate mid-performance.

  • In the event that a specific competition category or round is conducted over multiple days or involves multiple attempts, the Organizer reserves the absolute right to determine the most appropriate scoring methodology to identify the winner(s).

  • Should there be any grievances, participants are directed to: contact@bestemready.com or Whatsapp at 012-391 8681

6.  Penalties & Disqualifications

  1. Grounds for Immediate Disqualification:

    • Any drone flying completely outside of the netted flight volume.

    • Failure to begin the performance within the 5-minute setup time.

    • Any action deemed by the judges or safety officer to be reckless or dangerous to personnel, equipment, or the venue.

    • Failure to comply with a safety officer's directive.

  2. OBJECTIONS

    • Referee decisions are not subject to teams' objections. In case of disagreements or opposing opinions, the referees have the final say in cooperation with the Headjudges and the Organizing Committee.
